Casslyn Carolyn Ward was born on August 24, 1998 in San Diego, CA to Jim and Aimee Ward. She has two sisters, Gia and Serena and one brother, Kyler. Currently, Casslyn is a senior at River Springs Charter School and she will graduate from high school in 2017.

Casslyn was the 2006 Level 4 State Uneven bars, Floor Exercise and All-Around Champion and 2007 Level 5 State Uneven Bars and All-Around Champion. Casslyn competed level 6 in the fall of 2008 then moved up to level 7 in 2010. She grabbed gold medals on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. She finished third in the all-around at the San Diego Classic and AOGC Invitational. At the Byers Invitational, Casslyn won the uneven bars title. She concluded her level 7 season at the State Championships, finishing fourth in the all-around.

In 2011, Casslyn moved up to level 8. She finished first on floor exercise at the Gliders Invitational. She placed second in the all-around at the California Classic. She finished in the top fifteen at the State and Regional Championships. In 2012, she won the all-around title at the Arizona Grand Invitational. She placed first on vault and in the all-around at the Gliders Invitational. At the WOGA Classic, Casslyn grabbed gold medals on vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around. She won the vault title at the California Classic. At the State Championships, Casslyn placed first on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around. She finished fourth in the all-around, sixth on vault and eighth on uneven bars at Region 1 Championships.

Casslyn moved up to level 9 in 2013. She placed first on uneven bars and floor exercise at the Lady Luck Invitational and San Diego Classic. She finished fourth in the all-around at the WOGA Classic and fifth in the all-around at the California Classic. Casslyn placed third in the all-around at the State Championships. She did not compete at Region 1 Championships despite qualifying. In 2014, Casslyn finished first on floor exercise at the Lady Luck Invitational. She won the uneven bars title at the San Diego Classic. At the Gliders Invitational, Casslyn finished third in the all-around and first on vault and uneven bars. She grabbed gold medals on vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the Presidential Classic. Casslyn placed first on uneven bars and second in the all-around at the California Classic. Casslyn had a great meet at the State Championships, finishing first on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around as well as second on vault. At the Region 1 Championships, Casslyn finished third in the all-around, third on uneven bars and second on floor exercise. This qualified Casslyn to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Boise, ID where she placed 17th in the all-around, eighth on vault, seventh on uneven bars and eighth on floor exercise.

In 2015, Casslyn started her season at the OC Classic, finishing fourth in the all-around and third on uneven bars and floor exercise. She placed fifth in the all-around and fourth on vault and floor exercise at the Metroplex Challenge. Casslyn finished sixth in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the California Classic. At the State Championships, she placed seventh on uneven bars and qualified to the Region 1 Championships as a specialist on uneven bars.

Casslyn is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains about 30 hours per week at SCEGA Gymnastics in Temecula, CA under coaches Kathy Strate, Terry Gray and Rhonda Schwandt. Casslyn would like to compete for a Division 1 college gymnastics team.
